Jeju is the place to be!

Jeju is the place to be!

Hi Everyone. I know this is a long overdue update, but this time I do have a good excuse. Last week when I left Les Angles at 4:30 a.m. I thought it would be a good idea to have some cereal to eat on the bus to Barcelona. It would have been great except the milk leaked in my bag on my laptop...ooops!! Apparently laptops and milk are not a good combo. I thought maybe after it dried it would all be fine, but it's officially dead. So that's a pretty good reason for my lack of updates I think...Anyway, I'm now in Jeju, South Korea along with at least half of the triathletes competing in Beijing. I have not been here before, but am training with Daniela Ryf who is with the Swiss team. It's definitely a good place to prepare for the heat, very hot and humid. I'm staying at a great family run pension.>Of course no one speaks English, also a good prep for Beijing! Training is good. I almost feel like the race will be here with all of the athletes.

Before coming here I made a stop in Egirdir , Turkey to race and get one last hard effort in before Beijing. Although I placed 2nd things did not go according to plan.... I will spare you the details, but I'm thinking all the bad luck has passed now. it was very hot there as well so it was great to feel the heat on the run.

Opening Ceremonies are tonight!! Wow it's all happening and it still hasn't really sunk in that I'll be part of it all next week. I am arriving in Beijing on the 15th and after the race will go to the Athletes Village and stay until the closing ceremonies.

Sorry no photos, but I promise to take lots in Beijing after the race!

Cheers,

carolyn :)
